“I’ve been a member of Derby Sketching Club almost since I retired from work as it seemed an ideal opportunity to revive my art in the friendly and supportive environment of DSC. I Joined the weekly portrait group and also life drawing sessions.
I was fortunate to get a degree from a London art school in the 1970’s after doing a foundation course at Stafford Art College and having been encouraged to apply by my art teacher at school. Following this, I taught art in secondary schools to children with behavioural difficulties and special needs in Nottingham, London, Staffordshire and Birmingham as well as a stint working in prison education – they let me go home at night!
The art that I do is predominantly drawing and I particularly enjoy drawing people: portraits, life and sketching people in situ, like cafes, markets etc. I also enjoy doing interpretations of everyday things. I love to work in graphite and mixed media.”
