“I have always been interested in art from both a practical and theoretical standpoint, attended evening classes in the Royal West of England Academy and obtained an A level in art in 1977. I also enjoy visiting art galleries and reading about art. My biggest influence has been the impressionists particularly Monet and more recently Hockney, probably due to their use of colour.
My working life spanned 43 years in various engineering and management roles. Retirement in 2015 meant I was able to devote more time again to drawing and painting.
Derby Sketching Club enables me to mix with people having similar interests to improve and broaden my skills in portrait, life and landscape drawing and painting.
I am currently a member of the club committee acting as treasurer.”
