On Friday 23 August, as a change to the usual format, we had a still-life session with a difference. Becky Barker, Derby Sketching Club member and professional costume designer kindly provided a pair of mannequins to paint or draw. Assisted by her mum Lisa, she dressed the mannequins in a selection of outfits. Most of us at Derby Sketching Club don’t usually draw a lot of fabrics so this was a challenge: textures, sheen, draping and folds to tackle. A fun evening, well-attended. Marlene and Denise provided a delicious buffet in the break which was really appreciated. All agreed it would be nice to do something similar again in the future. Here’s a selection of work produced and a some photos of our models. Thanks very much to Becky and everyone else who helped out and those who took part.
